Fare regulations for the archipelago traffic

General regulations

Each passenger is obligated to have a valid ticket when getting off. The ticket should be kept and showed upon ticket controls during the trip and when getting off. Cash ticket is always left when getting off the boat. For children that are free of charge there is no reserved place to sit. Furred animals are prohibited in parts of the boats. Smoking is not allowed inside or on foredeck. Cash ticket

The fee is established due to the length of the trip and is paid onboard.

Childrens trips:

Children ages 0-6 years free of charge.
Children between the ages of 7-19 have a reduced price when getting a cash ticket. Counts until the month they turn 20.

A season ticket can be bought for children from 7 until the month they turn 20. See the chapter on Season tickets/Supplementary ticket.

Senior discounts

Passengers entitled to seniors discounts get a reduced price when buying cash tickets.

Season cards and Supplementary card are bought at a reduced price.
For identity control all seniors that have a right to discounts should be able to show photo ID, drivers license or regular ID. Early retired persons that travel at a reduced fee must always show and certificate of entitlement from for example Försäkringskassan.
Entitled to seniors discount are
a) a person who has turned or is turning 65 years old the same month. 
b) a person who has turned 60 yet not 65 years old and has taken out an early retirement pension.
c) a person who according to Swedish law of general insurance recieves

- early retirement pension = pension due to long lasting sickness, disability or other handicap.
- temporary disability pension = pension due to sickness which is assumed to last for a longer period of time.
- disability compensation = compensation to gainfully employed with high grade reduction of organs functions.
- Allowance for the wife of a pensioner = can in some cases be issued to a wife whos husband draw age or early retirement pension. All drawn allowances for the wife of a pensioner is kept to seniors discount, until the allowance is replaced with a widow's pension.

The discount is valid no matter where the pensioner is registered or what his citizenship is.

Mobility service card

The mobility service card is issued by Stockholm county council's legitimition board. The holder of the card who has bought a cash ticket or has a season card/supplementary card holds the right to bring a helper free of charge. Mobility service cards from other parts of the country is not valid as stated above.

Children and seniors reduced prices

Passengers who are travelling on a regular route hold the right to bring hand luggage free of charge up to a gross weight of 30 kg.

Dogs can be brought onboard free of charge in stated areas. Passenger with dog or other pet is responsible for it. The dog must be on a leash onboard. Smaller pets should be kept in bag or cage.

Season card / Supplementary card

The card is charged and valid for 30 days or any of the following alternatives.
For first time purchases there is a deposit of 40 kr.

* Season card full price790:- for adults who is not entitled to seniors discount

* Season card reduced price 470:- for children between the ages of 7 and 19 and senior who is entitled to the senior discount.

* Supplementary card full price 560:- for an adult who isn't entitled to the seniors discount. Only valid together with the SL season card full price with at least 30 days validation.

* Supplementary card reduced price 340:- for children between the ages of 7 and 19 and seniors who are is entited to the senior discount. Only valid together with SL season card witha minimum of a 30 days validation.

If the card is loaded as a supplementary card a valid SL card should always be shown together with the ticket. The card is valid for 30 days after the first time you travel with it, which means you can load it plenty of time before you'll be doing your travelling. When there is 10 or less days left of validation it can be reloaded with 30 new days. Note that the new 30 days are added to the days that are left on the card. The new 30 day period doesn't begin right after the last period but when you start using your card again. The card is valid on all routes in our timetable, with exception for the routes that are marked as an ad in the timetable. When purschasing a card you will have to leave a deposit. The deposit is reimbursed when you leave the card to one of our terminals or onboard Waxholmsbolagets ships. Deposit is not taken out on the following reloading occassions. The card is not personal. By not personal meaning that it can count as a valid ticket for more than one person, though not on the same trip.

Management

The passenger should at each time of travelling push the card into a mounted ticket machine onboard the ship. The machine prints a ticket which shows what kind of travel pass that the card is loaded with.

The ticket machine can only print one ticket per each route. The ticket is the valid pass for the trip and is to be saved throughout the entire trip and shown to controller at getting off the boat.

Island hopping card (valid for 5 days)

The first time you buy the card you get to leave a deposit of 40:-. The deposit is reimbursed when the card is returned to any of our terminals or onboard Waxholmsbolagets ships.
The card is 340:- and is valid 5 days from the first day of travelling.

The boat card

The boat card is an electronic card that is loaded with a value of 1000:- but you only pay 750:-
The card is being used onboard as a payment for a cash ticket. The first time you buy the card there is a deposit of 40:- taken out. The deposit is reimbursed when the card is returned to any of our terminals or onboard Waxholmsbolaget ships. The boat card is sold and loaded at Waxholmsbolagets terminals in Stockholm, Vaxholm, Stavsnäs and at many SL-centers. The card is not personal. The card is valid on the routes that are marked in the timetable as "special fare regulations are applicable on the route".
