Nämdö – historic archipelago neighbourhood

Strindberg, Bellman and Taube have all praised the beautiful Nämdö archipelago. Nämdö itself is the main island and the Western border.

Since it is a large island we stop at several jetties. One of these is Östanvik. Visit Östanviks gård, a thriving archipelago farm dating back to the 16th century. It has a farm shop and is the starting point for two nature trails, which take you past some of Nämdö’s most interesting sights.

The next stop is Solvik with its  restaurant, store and guest harbour. You will probably meet Kerstin and Erland who run both the store and restaurant. A little further along we stop at Sand. Make sure you visit the homestead museum in the old school, which also has a craft shop and serves refreshments.
