Sandhamn – harbour life

Ever since the end of the 19th century when KSSS opened its clubhouse in the harbour, Sandhamn has been a royal sailing centre with the hottest nightlife in the archipelago.

All summer long people throng to the harbour with its restaurants and shops. The best way to explore the island is by foot. A network of paths crisscrosses the island. Follow them to the coastline and the island’s long white sandy beaches.

When it is time for a meal, there are plenty of alternatives. At Sandhamns Värdshus they have been serving weather beaten sailors for over 300 years! Or why not call in at Sandhamns bakery and try the famous seglarbullen. Next door is the customs hall, designed by the royal architect, Carl Hårleman, and the small museum in the old dockhouse.
